 Pine Plains Area Information

A famous resident of Plain Plains was the founder of the well-known Carvel Ice Cream Company, Thomas Carvel.  In 1969 he opened up the Carvel Country Club which featured an 18 hole golf course.  There were once plans to convert this property into a gated luxury community.

There are several opportunities for outdoor activities such as miniature golf, a beach, and a playground located at Stissing Lake as well as nearby parks such as Taghkanic lake and Wilcox Park.
